Post Chub Recap

By: Lisa Paris

To recapitulate, the past month has been mile running mayhem for this once pudgy fifth grader. Wiping the slate of my tainted past clean, I decided to run a mile a day for 30 days to prove to myself that anything, absolutely anything, is possible.

Within the span of thirty days I was able to turn my 13:30 minute mile into a 7:47 minute one! If you're just catching wind of this now you can relive the dream here: Chubby Kid Challenge.

I learned many lessons throughout the challenge.  Like the fact that slip-on shoes are a no no when it comes to treadmills and baller status nights in the VIP equate to low motivation miles come morning. I was also happy to learn that daily mile running does wonders for ones mental state as well as buttock region.

But above all else, I learned that you are not who you think you are, you are but an endless possibility. I never thought, in my entire ghetto fab life, I would run a mile outside of being forced. I thought I hated it out of negative association from childhood. I had no idea how great it felt. I had no idea that I was capable of doing it.

What have you written off in your life because of a negative experience? What are you holding back on out of the fear that you will fail?

I challenge you to hit that thing, whatever it may be, up. Try it. Attack it. Show yourself what you're capable of.

And if you don't think you can do it remind yourself how far this little tub came in one month...
