I Have A Green Dream

By: Lisa Paris

I have a dream that one day in the nail salons of America, all pedicures will be environmentally sound. That a green version of polish remover will be invented and that all of my favorite nail polish lines will be chemical free.

I have a dream that one day we as a people will stop forgetting our reusable bags in the trunks of our cars. That we will stop trying to carry a bag’s worth of groceries in our arms because despite how funny this may look, it is a dangerous undertaking.

I have a dream that one day every restaurant offering “green” to go packaging will educate people on what to do when they are done with it. That the people will understand that composting is not a new term for recycling.

I have a dream that my future children will one day live in a nation where cars run on used water bottles, the one McDonalds in existence is a museum and Facebook is solar powered.

Let greenness ring from every cocktail lounge in Manhattan.
Let greenness ring from the heated ski lodges of Aspen.
Let greenness ring from the largest truck stop in Bakersfield.

But not only that:

Let greenness ring from every tailgater at Dodger Stadium.
Let greenness ring from all the Harley Dealerships in the Midwest.
Let greenness ring from each and every hair salon in Dallas, Texas.

And when this happens we will be able to join our organically lotion-ed hands and sing:

Green at last! Green at last!
Despite the invention of hairspray, we are green at last!
